IMS PTSO MEETING MINUTES
September 24, 2019

Welcome Stacy Jordan, president
-reminder for membership forms and dues to be turned in by all board members
Treasurer’s Report Carla Alphonso, treasurer
-distribute treasurer’s report
-Board discussed the need to start selling Spirit Gear during lunches periodically and to sell Spirit Gear at home games
-discussed current fundraiser and plans are made to repost the information on Facebook and Website
-discussed other fundraisers in the works and plans to get those moving immediately
Book Fair Update Kelly Chappelle
-dates October 14-18th, set up on 11th
-set up date is covered by volunteers
-still in need of volunteers for some of book fair hours; will repost sign up link in both locations

Volunteers Needed For:
Book Fair Selling Spirit Gear During Lunches
Family Fun Night Upcoming home games Spirit Gear sales
Discussed Family Fun Night:
-we need flyer to go out by this Friday
-will be using the school’s resources for some games, emailing out to teachers for board games, also need to get dinner plans set and going
-Family Fun Night will be October 17th from 5-7 pm
-book fair will be open from 4:30-5:30 pm
-want to have (at the very least) kickball, chess, games from teachers, 6th grade paper roller coasters, dinner
-April Alsup planning to help with recruiting volunteers for Family Fun night
-Stacy will contact Mrs. DiQuattro about helping figure out dinner plans since she handled in the past
Could we possibly have an astronomy event sometime?
Future Meetings
-Discussed alternate days/times and came to the realization that the majority of board members would not be able to make alternate times.
-need to ponder other ideas to include staff and families that can’t make the morning meetings
-should we do one meeting at a different time to see how attendance goes?
Principal’s Report Casandra Paschal
-School report card coming out in October, but looking good
-School sponsored Fall Festival is October 24th (Thursday)
-is there some way the PTSO can help?
-September 29th “Peace in the Park” event
-3 of our students won the art contest
-put on by Interfaith Partners of South Carolina
-October 2nd 8 am – Irmo High School is having a networking event
-October 3rd – District 5 Gala
-PTSO is providing basket to represent IMS
-date theme
-Stacy is contacting vendors to provide dinner, movies, and other date night stuff
-“Love Cola” week is next week
-Gateway Baptist Church is cleaning up the greenhouse
-Riverland Hills Baptist Church is feeding the staff, fixing flower beds around the school
-October 7th is no longer a day off for students. It was decided at the board meeting for this day to replace the day missed for Hurricane Dorian.
-8th grade is gearing up for their trips to the Center for Advanced Technical Center
Other Discussed Items:
-All box tops need to be in by October 15th to be counted toward fall turn in
-Need to get updated with Publix
-October 17th is 8th grade PSAT
